Winning Wellness for Microsoft Corporation Northeast Region

Scenario

Recently I worked with Microsoft Corporation to help them deliver a series of virtual worksite wellness initiatives for their Northeast Region to address associates' total health and work/life balance needs.

We started our engagement with weekly virtual fitness classes that ran from May 2020 - August 2020. In addition to the classes, I provided monthly digital wellness content and several toolkits that addressed stress management and the complicated effects on wellbeing from COVID-19, working remotely and isolation.

The project expanded to include an additional 2 part webinar roll-out in December 2020 and January 2021 on creating space for wellness, stress management and personal action planning.

My Approach

I used insight from Microsoft leadership to create an assessment of appropriate strategies and made recommendations to optimize engagement that included: flexibility to stagger class times, options of LIVE and recorded classes, digital follow-up content, and Q&A opportunities.

We leveraged Microsoft’s Microsoft Teams video conferencing product for rollout and used internal marketing to promote and enroll participants. The entire project also included toolkits for associate engagement and success beyond the 15 webinars conducted. Weekly feedback from Microsoft leadership and associates post program was always factored into future classes and webinars.

Outcomes

At the end of the 8 month engagement, results showed positive progress in associates’ overall health, well being and performance. In addition, positive program response resulted in other Microsoft divisions inquiry to bring the programming to their teams.
