Lifestyle/Habit Fitness & Nutrition Coaching with Sarah

Scenario

Sarah reached out to me for help reaching her health and wellness goals after hearing about me through social media. Some of her goals included establishing more positive total health behaviors and losing weight. We started our 1:1 partnership in October of 2020 with a primary focus on lifestyle and habit coaching that also evolved into fitness and nutrition coaching.

My Approach

As a busy senior executive working in health, and a family-oriented wife and mother, Sarah's assessment strategy revealed a need for focus areas that she could address immediately and efficiently without adding more stress to her hectic life and schedule. Part of my approach included coming up with mini action plans for each of Sarah’s focus areas and creating measurable realistic habit-based actions that allowed her to have daily and weekly wins that she could then build on the following week.

To help support Sarah further, we set her up with regular check-ins in addition to our weekly coaching session. I created toolkits and custom workout and meal plans that aligned to Sarah’s goals. We also focused on flipping mindset to be more positive and less restrictive/negative and reinforcing motivating factors. By developing short term and long-term goals, we’ve created a positive path for consistent progress that is sustainable and considers the challenges of the current social climate and pandemic.

Outcomes

Sarah has exceeded many of the initial goals we set up together by consistently committing to our process and plans and being honest about what’s working and what needs adjusting. We are still working together and Sarah is well on her way to reaching her bigger long-term goals.

When it comes to health and fitness, my typical approach has been to go all in at once, often resulting in a fantastic start soon to be followed by a fantastic burn out. Meg coached me to make a series of smaller but still impactful changes across multiple aspects of my life while providing support and accountability. Over the last three months, these changes have added up and I have met a number of my longer term goals - decreasing my caffeine intake, consistently exercising , being more mindful about when and what I am eating and continually striving to find more balance in my overall life. I still have plenty of work to do but I am better positioned than I’ve ever been to meet my goals and am confident I will get there.
